Delicious Overnight Steak Recipe

I’m all about making easy and delicious food, and since I’ve found myself in more of a time-crunch this quarter than I expected, I’m also all about making things that don’t take very long! My local SaveMart had a sale on steaks this week, so I picked up a big package and then realized I didn’t know how to cook steak.

I researched a little, and came up with this marinade and cooking strategy:

approx. 1 1/2 tablespoons each olive oil and red wine vinegar

a dash of gluten-free soy sauce

garlic salt & pepper

(this makes marinade for one steak! Be sure to double or triple accordingly.)

Place the steak in a Ziploc bag and combine with other ingredients. Seal the bag and work everything in together to get the best flavoring possible. Make sure the bag is fully sealed and place in the fridge overnight. (I had mine in the fridge for a night and a whole day before cooking.)

Heat skillet or frying pan over high until hot. Put marinaded steak in the pan and sear for a minute or two on either side. This helps seal in juices and make it tender. I then cooked my steak for about 4 more minutes per side, but that’s totally personal preference for how done you like your meat.

This was so delicious that I had eaten all of it before I remembered to take a picture! I’m going to make more tomorrow though, so I’ll be sure to take pictures then.

  1. Here’s mine.
Rub the steak with ground sage leaves.
Coat all sides of the steak with freshly ground pepper.
Coat all sides of the steak with garlic powder.
Sprinkle some balsamic vinegar on both sides of the steak.
Salt all sides of the steak.
Pierce the steak repeatedly on both sides of the steak with a fork.
Coat the steak lightly with olive oil and let it come to room temperature.
Cook the steak over high heat turning once. It is illegal to cook a steak beyond medium rare.
Pull steak from the fire and let it rest six minutes before cutting into it.
