Happy Thanksgiving! In between walking the dogs, cooking, and the company arriving, I wanted to take a moment to reflect here on what I’m thankful for this year. In no particular order, here are some things that came to mind:

My home. Today is a beautiful, but not unusual day in the Napa Valley. I went for a walk with the dogs and my dad this morning and it was so lovely. I love living in Davis, but this gorgeous valley will always be my home. The vines and hills and hot air balloons are the best!

My family is the absolute best! They have always been so supportive of me and my endeavors, and they’re also just really cool people to be around. I’m so glad to be at home & spending Thanksgiving with them today. My pets (an integral component of the family) are the best. A house without pets is a sad, empty house to me. My dogs are like siblings to me, I love them as much as I love the important non-fur people in my life. The cats are also delightful, sweet animals, but they give me terrible allergies so I can’t cuddle them quite as much.

I’m thankful for Ben; my boyfriend, best friend, and partner in crime all in one. He makes me laugh and makes me better, and we always have a great time together. I miss him today but I know he’s having a good time with his own family.

I’m thankful for my health and my strength. I feel so fortunate to be as healthy as I am. I do work for it; I really think that eating better and doing yoga have improved my immune system, but I know I’m also lucky. I’m glad that the end of this year and the start of next year will be much healthier than last year.

I’m thankful for my friends, old and new. I miss my old roomies a lot because I barely see them this quarter, but when I do, we still laugh a lot. I love my old friends because they are the ones who stuck around, the ones who were worth hanging on to. We always pick right back up where we left off. Friends are so important.

I’m thankful for music. My life is filled with it, through classes, voice lessons, choir, and singing in the shower, and I can’t imagine it any other way. Nothing makes me feel like singing does; worthwhile, filled with joy, confident.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day full of gratitude and love and good food!
