I had an awesome weekend: beach camping and Easter!
The beach! Gorgeous and sunny! But also so, so cold because it’s Northern(ish) California.
This is how I found my friend Amelia when our car got to the campsite. Huddling behind the car to hide from the wind led to suffering from smoke in the eyes syndrome.
We got the tent set up despite the wind and cooked a really tasty dinner.
Oysters, potatoes, apples, and bananas all cooked by fire. If you’ve never tried making apeshits while camping, you’re missing out. You cut into a banana lengthwise, while still in the peel, and add chocolate, marshmallows, coconut, or whatever deliciousness you want.
We got a beautiful full moon moonrise, and then promptly went to bed. I always get tired and go to bed so early when camping, even thought I usually don’t do that much more than when I’m at a house.
Ben and I went home for Easter. My family doesn’t celebrate the religious element, but we get together for an awesome brunch. Alice May Cat promptly got into my Easter basket as soon as I was done unpacking it.
Gayle does an amazing job of setting an Easter table, complete with tons of toys, bubbles, candy, and Easter-themed headwear. Stella was a remarkably good sport.
I wish I had taken pictures of the table, food, and drinks, but I was having too much fun to think of grabbing my phone, which is a good thing. We had traditional ham, sweet & spicy sweet potatoes, a rice & bean salad, green salad, cheesy Red Lobster biscuits, strawberries, and an incredible chocolate meringue pie. We also had champagne cocktails, which I had never tried before, but were delicious. It was a very classy event and it was so nice to have a fun and relaxing afternoon with family.
