January Covet Crate Subscription Box Review

Hi! I received this wonderful box on Monday but it’s been so crazy busy that I haven’t been able to write this post until now!

Covet Crate is a brand-new subscription box for the busy, professional woman. There are two different levels, Girl Boss ($44.95) and Lady Boss ($84.95). This is a review of the Girl Boss box.

Ashley, the founder, was kind enough to let me try it out a month early, and she is letting me offer my readers a 25% off coupon on the first box! Keep reading to get the code 🙂

December Hole in Wall Box Review

The lovely people of Hole in Wall were good enough to send me their San Diego box to try this month, and I am thrilled with it!

For those of you who aren’t familiar, this box strives to bring the best of a location to subscribers. This can include items from mom & pop shops, farmers’s markets, and other fun places. Hole in Wall is a bi-monthly box.

I love food, but food in subscription boxes is usually not paleo-friendly, so I was so excited by this beef jerky.

Sinsa Korean BBQ Beef Jerky – $7

I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m thinking it will be the perfect snack to take down to Southern California this weekend! And even Ben will eat it, since the beef contains no hormones or antibiotics.

S.D. Scented Candle- $7

I love me some candles. This one smells like ocean & jasmine, a great combo, and I love it. I might bring this into work and have it in my cube.

IMG_3950

Oaked Chipotle Hot Sauce- $6; Caramel Kettle Korn- $3

These two items are perfect stocking stuffers! The caramel corn is made with American-grown corn and I think my mom will love it. I also think that she’ll like the Arrogant Bastard Ale hot sauce.

MJ’s market PC Bar- $4

I have never had a snack bar quite like this one before. The flavors were good and not too sweet because everything is natural and whatnot, but the consistency was chewy and kind of like a rice krispy treat because of the puffed millet.

October 2015 Rocksbox Review

This is my third Rocksbox, but I’ve been so busy that I didn’t get around to reviewing the other ones! Rocksbox is a designer jewelry subscription service, but instead of keeping the pieces, you wear them and send them back when you’re ready for a change! If you fall in love with a piece, you do have the option to buy it at a discounted price (which I did with the necklace in this box.)

Each box comes with three pieces of jewelry, usually one from your Wishlist and two surprise pieces selected by a stylist based on your answers to a style quiz. You can keep the box and wear the pieces for as long as you want, but you won’t get a new box until you send the old one back. Rocksbox is $19 a month, which I think is a great deal because you can get new jewelry as many times as you want – as fast as you can wear it and send it back!

September 2015 Wantable Accessories Review

I took at 2-month hiatus from shopping during July and August which was great, but I knew I was going to want to order a Wantable box for my birthday in September. I opened it this morning and I love 3 out of the 4 items.

For those of you who are new to Wantable, they are a subscription service that offers three kinds of regular boxes (items you keep at no extra cost) and two different edits (styling services that give you a discount on items if you choose to keep them). My favorite box is the accessories one, which is what I got this month.

July 2015 Birchbox Review

I received my second Birchbox on Friday! This will be my last subscription box for a while, I’m taking a big break from shopping and spending. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, Birchbox is a monthly makeup and beauty sample box. For $10 a month, you get 5 samples of high-quality beauty items tailored to you & based on the answers you provide to a quiz. The theme of this month’s Birchbox was “go bold”.

June 2015 Wantable Accessory Box Review

Hello! It’s been many months since I got a Wantable box, I think my last one was in January, and I have to say that I’m very happy that I got one this month! I went in and changed my preferences to reflect summer, meaning no scarves and definitely sunglasses.

For those of you who are new to Wantable, it’s a monthly subscription box that has several options: makeup, intimates, and accessories. They also have style edits, but that is a different category than their original boxes. When you sign up, you take a highly customizable quiz in which you choose your preferences for everything from type of accessories to metal tone color. You put things in categories of “love,” “like,” and “dislike” and they will send you more of what you “love” and never anything you put in the “dislike” category. You also have the option at the end of the quiz to write a note to your stylist about anything you particularly want. The accessory boxes usually come with four pieces. Wantable does free returns if you are not satisfied with your collection.

Here’s my box this month:

May 2015 Flicker Box Review

IMG_4787

I received a surprise Flicker Box this month and boy, am I happy I did! The theme for May was “Flower Market” and it is definitely my favorite box I have gotten so far. Flicker Box is a monthly candle subscription. Your first month starts at $25 and the subsequent months go up to $34. I have found that the boxes have a value over that amount, so I find this subscription to be a great value. You can visit their website and sign up for your Flicker Box here.

IMG_4783

For some reason, my box this month did not include an information card. The information I’m including in this post is found from the candles’ websites.

Mosley Lane for Flicker Box Lilac Candle

I love the smell of lilac and I love this candle! I’m so glad it’s huge, I want to have it burning all the time. It’s not overpowering but definitely can scent a room. It is made of 100% soy/beeswax and is listed as burning for over 50 hours. This 11 oz. candle costs $14.49 on mosleylane.com. I will be enjoying this candle all through the spring and summer.

Soy Delites Jasmine Travel Candle with matches

This is another delicious scent! Jasmine is one of my favorite fragrant flowers so I’m very happy with this. I also love that this company included a container of matches. This candle is 4 oz. and made of soy wax (as the brand name indicates). It’s burn time is about 25 hours. You can buy one for $7.99 here. They have a Cucumber Melon scent that I want to try!

IMG_4786

Eco Candle Co. Peony Candle with Flicker Box matches

I know I’ve said this for every candle, but I love the scent! Peonies are so beautiful to look at but I didn’t know they smelled great, too! I have previously gotten assorted tealights from this company in my Flicker Box and they were nice scents, so it’s nice to see this company again! This candle also smells great when burned with the lilac one; like a sun-warmed flower garden. This is a 5 oz. soy candle that sells for $11 on the Eco Candle website. They have a bunch of other awesome-sounding and unique scents, like “Grass Stain” and “Blueberry Patch.”

This box has a value of $33.50 (not counting the matches). This is a bit under the price of the box, but the candles are still much less than what you would pay for them in stores and boutiques, so I think it’s worth it. As I said, this is my favorite box that I’ve received; the theme was done perfectly and all the candles smell amazing. Thanks, Flicker Box!

Cate & Chloe VIP Box Review, May 2015

I received my first Cate & Chloe VIP box yesterday! This is the first jewelry box I’ve gotten in months, and I was really excited to try this one. The Cate & Chloe VIP box is a monthly package that includes 2 (sometimes 3) pieces of high-quality jewelry for $39.99 a month. Something that is different about Cate & Chloe than some other services is that they also have a separate online shop, where you can find the same pieces you get in the box (but at a much higher price). I am part of the affiliate program (see link on the right side of my homepage). If you would like to become a member, you can click that link or go here.

Each piece was wrapped individually, always a nice touch.

Spencer “Visionary” Turquoise Pendant Necklace

The first item in the box was this cool silver and turquoise pendent necklace. I requested silver as my main metal/color because that’s what I wear the most of. I’ve never seen a piece like this before and I really like it! I’m going to wear it tomorrow with a long dress for the first day of the UC Davis Whole Earth festival. This necklace sells for $69 on the website.

Lynne

Lynne “Pretty” Crisscross Earrings

These were listed as something different on my information sheet, but I checked on their website and these are in fact the crisscross earrings. I like them, even though I wouldn’t have picked them out for myself! That’s one of the things I most love about subscription boxes though, that I get beautiful things that are outside my comfort zone. These posts seem to be a very nice quality and are selling on the website for $49.

I'm wearing them today to dress up a denim shirt!

Drew “Wise One” Cuff Ring

As I said earlier, Cate & Chloe occasionally include a third bonus piece, and this was one of those months! This is the Drew “Wise One” cuff ring, in honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday. It’s a pretty & shiny adjustable ring with a design on each side that reminds me of a growing pant. Here’s what it looks like from above:

IMG_4556

If you know me, you know I’m crazy about rings, especially silver ones, and that I have a large collection. I’m so happy to incorporate this one into my rotation! The Drew ring sells for $55 on Cate & Chloe.com.

IMG_4563

This box has a value of $173, which is an incredible value for a box that costs $40. I really like the curation of this month because they are pieces that are both something I will wear and something I wouldn’t have picked out for myself. I also enjoy how well these piece seem to be made, a quality which is sometimes lacking in other boxes I have tried. Thanks for the beautiful jewelry, Cate & Chloe!
